Did you know frogs don’t drink water with their mouths?

Instead of drinking water, frogs soak up water through their rubbery skin through a process called osmosis. They have a semi-permeable membrane called a “drinking patch” or “seat pouch” on their stomach and the underside of their thighs, allowing water and moisture to be absorbed. It can be fatal for a frog’s skin to dry out, so captive frogs must have access to a water dish wide enough to submerge their belly fully.
